Earlier this year on New Year's Day, Japan experienced a 7.5 magnitude earthquake that caused extensive damage in the Noto Peninsula area of Ishikawa.

Steeped in rich history, Ishikawa is home to thriving fine arts and crafts like ceramics and lacquerware.

As it’s located along the sea of japan, you'd expect fresh seafood. Rice is grown throughout Ishikawa, and breweries use local rice to create award-winning sake varieties.

There are about 35 sake breweries in Ishikawa, of which many were affected due to the earthquake. Even for breweries who were not directly impacted, tourism plummeted drastically, affecting sales of businesses in all sectors.

The devastating aftermath of the Noto Earthquake remains close to our hearts. We have therefore put together a pre-festival series of sake and food pairing sessions, of which net proceeds will be donated to quake victims through the Japan Red Cross Society.
